De nationale necropolis, opgericht in 1915, verzamelt de stoffelijke overschotten van soldaten die voor Frankrijk zijn gesneuveld tijdens de gevechten in de Hauts-de-Meuse tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog.
Het ligt aan de rand van het bos, op een heuvel, 800 meter van het dorp Les Eparges.
er liggen 2960 lichamen van Franse soldaten, waaronder Robert Porchon, een vriend van Maurice Genevoix.
In het midden van de necropolis is een monument in steen van Euville opgericht voor de onbekende soldaten (852) die in het ossuarium zijn verzameld.
