Het Centre de Recherche sur l'Histoire des Familles (voorheen CDHF), opgericht in 1991, is een originele creatie van de Conseil Général du Haut-Rhin.
Het is het enige in zijn soort en biedt het publiek een grote hoeveelheid historische, thematische en genealogische documentatie. Zij kan elk genealogisch onderzoek verrichten in de burgerlijke registers van vóór 1892 en de parochieregisters van het Ancien Régime voor het huidige departement Haut-Rhin.
Het heeft een uitgebreide genealogische bibliotheek over de Franse families. Het bezit een belangrijke archiefcollectie over het gehele Franse grondgebied.
