In het hart van de Petite Cité de Caractère van Airvault kunnen bezoekers de schoonheid van de voormalige Augustijner abdij bewonderen, gesticht aan het einde van de 10e eeuw. De gebouwen dateren uit de 12e (kuiphuis, versterkte poort), 14e (kapel) en 17e eeuw (abdijwoning). In deze gebouwen is het Jacques Guidez museum gevestigd, met een grote collectie etnografische voorwerpen. Het museum is geopend van maandag 15 april tot zondag 29 september. De tuinen zijn het hele jaar door vrij toegankelijk. De landelijke wereld van weleer is goed vertegenwoordigd (ambachten, huiselijk leven, kindertijd, spelletjes en speelgoed, landbouw, enz.)
