Het renaissancehuis, een opmerkelijk monument hier in Kaysersberg, werd in 1492 gebouwd door de smid Herzer, die hier zijn hele leven woonde. Op de rand van het grote raam staat een Duits opschrift. Het werd in 1907 gerestaureerd en bood 65 jaar lang onderdak aan het stadsmuseum van Kaysersberg.
