De Romeinse weg van Reims naar Trier, aangelegd in 45 voor Christus tijdens het bewind van keizer Claudius, liep hierlangs. De site is het onderwerp geweest van wetenschappelijke opgravingen en er zijn educatieve panelen geplaatst om de wandelaars uit te leggen hoe het leven hier in de Romeinse tijd was. Ook bezienswaardig, op een steenworp afstand van Chameleux, is het pittoreske Franse dorpje Wiliers, gebouwd op een uitloper omgeven door een muur, die waarschijnlijk in de Keltische of Romeinse tijd is gebouwd.
