Onder de ondergrond van Liffol waren Gallo-Romeinse villa's, een heiligdom waar water- en zonnecultussen werden gevierd, en vele andere schatten uit de Gallo-Romeinse periode verborgen..
Opgravingen hebben deze aan het licht gebracht, waarbij ook een voor de Romeinse wereld unieke rookkamer en een Flavisch mozaïek zijn blootgelegd
Deze voorwerpen worden tentoongesteld en uitgestald op twee niveaus in dit museum, waar vroeger het huis van de boswachter stond
De collecties gaan van de prehistorie tot de Gallo-Romeinse periode, de Middeleeuwen en de Renaissance.
