De oude abdij domineert Longeville sinds de 6e eeuw. De stad ontwikkelde zich rond deze kloostergebouwen, net als veel van de omliggende dorpen. Het gebouw heeft een bewogen verleden met aanvallen, plunderingen, restauraties, afbraak... om vandaag binnen zijn muren de patiënten van een rust- en herstelhuis te verwelkomen. Elementen herinneren aan de oorsprong van het klooster: de grote ingangsportalen, de gewelfde kamers met bogen, de noordelijke toren, de kapel, het park, het meubilair...
