Gelegen tussen de gemeenten Poissons en Montreuil-sur-Thonnance, biedt de Col des Lacets de Mélaire een zeer mooi uitzicht op de vallei en de beroemde haarspeldbochten. Het is het voorkeursdoorsteekpunt tussen de vallei van de Rongeant in het zuiden en die van de stroom van Mont in het noorden. Deze col wordt aan de westkant omgeven door de plaats « Calais » die op 391 m ligt en door de « Montagne » waarvan de maximale hoogte ook 391 m is. Het is uitgerust met een grote parkeerplaats die ruimte biedt aan campervans.
Het is de 2e col genoteerd door de Départementale Commissie voor Fietstoerisme van Haute-Marne.
