Het was in het gehucht Duris, een voormalig pottenbakkersdorp in de buurt van Magnac-Bourg, dat de lamellen werden gemaakt. Ze danken hun bestaan aan de aanwezigheid van een ader klei die nog steeds wordt gedolven door tegelbakkers. De finials lijken op sierlijke, geringde kruiken die op de twee kruispunten van de vier dakhellingen worden geplaatst om de constructie tegen de elementen te beschermen. Ze zijn een uiterlijk teken van rijkdom en weren ook boze geesten en spreuken af.
