De Black Brook in Lancashire ontspringt bij Great Hill in de West Pennine Moors. Het water is zuur door een hoog niveau van veen in de hoger gelegen gebieden nabij Round Loaf, wat de beek zijn bruine kleur geeft. De jonge rivier stond bekend als Warth Brook in het oude Heapey. Een toevoerbeek, ook bekend als Black Brook, komt samen nabij Kittiwake Road - deze korte en zwakke waterloop begint bij Eagle Tower. De verbonden beek voedt het Anglezarke Reservoir en voegt zich bij de River Yarrow in het laaggelegen Chorley bij Yarrow Bridge. De gehele loop van de Black Brook en de River Yarrow valt binnen Chorley en zijn dorpen.
