Black Brook en Lancashire tiene su origen en Great Hill en los West Pennine Moors. El agua es ácida debido a un alto nivel de turba en las tierras altas cerca de Round Loaf, lo que le da al arroyo su color marrón. El joven río era conocido como Warth Brook en la antigua Heapey. Un arroyo afluente, también conocido como Black Brook, se une cerca de Kittiwake Road; este curso de agua corto y débil comienza en Eagle Tower. El arroyo articulado alimenta el embalse de Anglezarke y se une al río Yarrow en la baja Chorley en Yarrow Bridge. Todo el curso de Black Brook y el río Yarrow cae dentro de Chorley y sus aldeas.
