Omdat de tunnel bij Chirk volledig onverlicht is, is het beter om een zaklamp/zaklamp te gebruiken als je door de tunnel loopt, aangezien het naar het midden toe pikdonker is. Wel is er over de gehele lengte een houten leuning om te voorkomen dat wandelaars in de gracht vallen.
