De Wesleyaanse gemeente in Cropredy werd rond 1822 opgericht, maar was tegen het begin van de jaren 1880 uit zijn eerste kapel gegroeid.
Een nieuwe kapel was gepland en de fundamentstenen werden gelegd op Paasmaandag 18 april 1881. De architect was Edward Pincher uit West Bromwich en de kapel met een zitcapaciteit van 200 werd in augustus van hetzelfde jaar voltooid. De bouwer was Thomas Cherry uit Cropredy, onder toezicht van Caleb Mander uit Banbury. De openingsdienst vond plaats op 26 augustus 1881, toen de preek werd gehouden door ds. F.J. Sharr uit Londen.
