Antikythera is vooral bekend door de ontdekking van het Wrak van Antikythera en het aan boord gevonden Mechanisme van Antikythera, een 2000 jaar oud astronomisch uurwerkmechanisme. En het is niet zo maar een eenvoudig uurwerk. Deze analoge computer voorspelde zonsverduisteringen en andere posities van de hemellichamen. Het model werd helemaal herwerkt in Lego. Je kan het bekijken via de meer info link hier onder. Als je dat bekijkt krijg je maar pas een goede indruk van hoe complex en geavanceerd die uitvinding die op Antikythera gevonden werd was.
