Net ten zuiden van Mesochori snijdt de recessieve erosie van de vallei van Methoni het zachte materiaal weg van het mergelplateau waar Mesochori en Pidasos toe behoren. Het resultaat is een soort badlands in flysch met steile hellingen en bijna geen bodemontwikkeling. Het gevolg is dat deze gebieden niet voor landbouw worden gebruikt. maar ze bieden wel een spectaculair zicht.
