Enkele beroemde mensen werden geboren in het dorp Apeiranthos. Een daarvan is Petros Protopapadakis (1854-1922), premier van Griekenland, wiens kleinzoon nu in Luxemburg woont. Je kunt een standbeeld van Petros Protopapadakis zien in de hoofdstad van Naxos. Ook Manolis Glezos (1922), politicus en schrijver, werd hier geboren. Manolis Glezos is een Griekse linkse politicus en schrijver, vooral bekend om zijn deelname aan het verzet in de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Michalis Vardanis (1936-2014) was een legerofficier, advocaat en een belangrijke figuur in het verzet tegen het regime van de kolonels.
