Kalamitsi is een van de prachtige bergdorpjes op Lefkadia. Het dorpje groeide enkele eeuwen geleden uit tot een belangrijke plek omdat het goed verscholen lag van piratenaanvallen. Het zal je opvallen dat het dorp niet uitkijkt naar de Ionische zee, maar achter de heuvelrug die het dorp van het zicht vanaf de Ionische Zee scheidt. Het dorp had ook een school die dateert uit 1825. Er waren tal van kerkjes, een klooster en windmolens.
De smalle straatjes blokkeren elke opgejaagde toerist die snel ergens moet zijn en brengen haar of hem terug naar het gepaste tempo van het dorp.
Kalamtsi is ook de toegang tot een aantal prachtige stranden zoals Megalo Petra, Kavalikefta beach, Avali Beach en Gaidaros Beach.
