Craco is een stenen spookstad die eruit ziet alsof het zal naar beneden glijden langs de klif. Gebouwd in de 8e eeuw werden de chaotisch-gestapelde woningen gecreëerd om gemakkelijk verdedigbaar te zijn tegen een barbaarse horde. Hoewel het een effectieve strategie was tegen de barbaren was het minder bestand tegen aanvallen van Moeder Natuur. In 1991 werd de historische stad getroffen door een aardverschuiving dat de resterende bewoners dwong te verhuizen. Het is nu een spookstad die nog steeds toeristen aantrekt.
