De Talvera-rivier ontspringt op 2781 m boven zeeniveau nabij de Pennespas in de Sarntaler Alpen in Zuid-Tirol. Hij stroomt door de hele gemeente Sarnthein, vormt de grens tussen de gemeenten San Genesio Atesino en Renon, om vervolgens de gemeente Bozen binnen te gaan, waar hij in de rivier Isarco uitmondt, waarvan hij de op één na grootste zijrivier is.
