Urspelt ligt in het Ösling in het oosten van Luxemburg. Aan de oostelijke rand van het dorp stroomt de Irbich langs het dorp. Door het dorp lopen de CR 340 en de CR 339. Burenplaatsen zijn in het noorden Hüpperdingen en Grindhausen, in het oosten Fischbach en in het zuiden Reuler.
Urspelt is een landelijk dorp. Het middelpunt van het dorp wordt gevormd door het in 1860 gebouwde kasteel Urspelt en de barokke Antoniuskapel.
