De 40 meter hoge Wolkenkrabber, oftewel het 12-verdiepingenhuis zoals als het officieël heet, staat op een centrale plaats in het door Berlage ontworpen Amsterdamse Plan Zuid. Dit woongebouw van 12 verdiepingen markeert het einde van de Vrijheidslaan, waar links de Rooseveltlaan en rechts de Churchilllaan beginnen. De wolkenkrabber vertoont kenmerken van zowel de Amsterdamse School als van het functionalisme. De symmetrische toren heeft in het midden een lift en trappenhuis met aan beide zijden een appartement. Gebruikte materialen zijn beton, gele baksteen, staal en glas.
