Harlingen ) )) is een gemeente in de Nederlandse provincie Friesland. Aangrenzende gemeentes zijn Waadhoeke in het noordoosten en Súdwest-Fryslân in het zuiden. De gemeente telt 15.903 inwoners , waarvan ongeveer 14.810 in de hoofdplaats Harlingen.De gemeente Harlingen telt slechts drie officiële kernen, waarvan de stad Harlingen verreweg de grootste is. Wijnaldum maakte tot 1 januari 1984 deel uit van de toen opgeheven gemeente Barradeel. De Nederlandse plaatsnamen zijn de officiële.
