Het ligt ten noordwesten van Sloten, ten oosten van Ypecolsga, ten zuiden van Heeg en ten zuidwesten van Koufurderrige. Het dorp is een watersportplaats met de dorpskern aan de Ee, en het is daarmee verbonden met het Slotermeer en via de Woudsenderakken met het Heegermeer.
Het dorp ligt aan de route van de Elfstedentocht en heeft meerdere havens. De meeste watersporthavens liggen aan de Wellesloot. Deze vaart stroomt naar de Noorder Ee, de Ee en de Woudsenderakken. Aan die laatste ligt ook een haven met een camping, aanpalend ligt er een vakantiepark van het dorp Indijk.
