Het Stadhuis van Maastricht staat op het marktplein in het centrum van de oude stad. Aan het zeventiende-eeuwse gebouw werd maar liefst 25 jaar gewerkt. Het stadhuis, in de stijl van het Hollands Classicisme, is niet heel groot, maar daarom niet minder imposant. Het is vooral de toren in het midden van het gebouw die de aandacht trekt.
Bij de bouw van het gebouw (17de eeuw) werden grote sloopwerken gehouden. Enkele huizen, maar ook de Lakenhal, het Belfort en een gedeelte van de eerste stadsmuur moesten het ontgelden. Zo ontstond er een min om meer vierkant marktplein, met middenin het Stadhuis.
De binnenkant is bovendien nog helemaal ingericht met meubels uit de zeventiende
