Het Hilversums Wasmeer is een plek die regelmatig als drinkplaats wordt gebruikt door de wilde dieren uit dit gebied. Het Hilversums Wasmeer heeft een totale oppervlakte van 31 hectare. Het is de meest oorspronkelijke ven in 't Gooi. De brede open oeverzones huisvesten planten die enerzijds van vocht houden en anderzijds van een zure, voedselarme zandbodem. Voorbeelden zijn de (vleesetende) kleine zonnedauw, de diepblauwe klokjesgentiaan en de veenpluis, die zomers al van veraf zijn te herkennen aan de spierwitte pluimpjes.
