Het centrum is gesitueerd aan de rand van het natuurgebied De Weerribben, onderdeel van Nationaal Park Weerribben-Wieden. Rondvaartboten uit bijvoorbeeld Meppel hebben dit buitencentrum in hun programma van dagtochten opgenomen. Het buitencentrum behoort bij het dorp Ossenzijl in de provincie Overijssel.
