Oorspronkelijk maakte het Caeciliakapel onderdeel uit van het vrouwenklooster, dat werd gesticht in 1496. Uit die tijd dateert ook het schip. Het koor is in de 16de eeuw vernieuwd. Het heeft een opvallende natuurstenen goot en een netgewelf met afhangende sluitstenen.
De Sint Caeciliakapel waarin de Lutheranen vanaf de midden-achtiende eeuw kerkten, dateert uit het midden der vijftiende eeuw en behoorde bij het voormalig Augustinessenklooster. Vanaf 1810 kregen de Hervormden de kerk in eigendom, met de bepaling dat de Lutheranen er ook konden verblijven. Na de oorlog kerkt men enige tijd in een noodgebouw, maar in 1949 werd de kapel hersteld.
