Kasteel Rijckholt ligt iets ten zuiden van Maastricht in een rand van het Heuvelland in een parkachtige omgeving. De oudste bezitter van Kasteel Rijckholt dateert maar liefst uit 1043. Het oudste deel van het kasteel is de toren. Deze werd in de veertiende eeuw gebouwd. In 1489 werd de versterkte toren met zijn twee meter dikke muren verwoest, maar direct weer opgebouwd, waarschijnlijk op de resten uit de veertiende eeuw.
In de historische archieven worden de oudste bezitters van het kasteel genoemd. Dit zijn onder andere Herman van Gronsveld (1043), Winand van Rijckholt (1148) en Herman van Lynden (1596).Thans heeft het gebouw een horecafunctie.
