Das Schloss Rijckholt liegt etwas südlich von Maastricht am Rand des Heuvellands in einer parkähnlichen Umgebung. Der älteste Besitzer von Schloss Rijckholt stammt aus dem Jahr 1043. Der älteste Teil des Schlosses ist der Turm. Dieser wurde im vierzehnten Jahrhundert erbaut. 1489 wurde der befestigte Turm mit seinen zwei Meter dicken Mauern zerstört, aber sofort wieder aufgebaut, wahrscheinlich auf den Resten aus dem vierzehnten Jahrhundert.
In den historischen Archiven werden die ältesten Besitzer des Schlosses genannt. Dazu gehören unter anderem Herman van Gronsveld (1043), Winand van Rijckholt (1148) und Herman van Lynden (1596). Heute hat das Gebäude eine gastronomische Funktion.
