Il Castello di Rijckholt si trova poco a sud di Maastricht, in un'area collinare in un ambiente parco. Il più antico proprietario del Castello di Rijckholt risale addirittura al 1043. La parte più antica del castello è la torre, costruita nel XIV secolo. Nel 1489, la torre fortificata con le sue pareti di due metri di spessore fu distrutta, ma ricostruita immediatamente, probabilmente sulle fondamenta del XIV secolo.
Negli archivi storici sono menzionati i più antichi proprietari del castello, tra cui Herman van Gronsveld (1043), Winand van Rijckholt (1148) e Herman van Lynden (1596). Attualmente, l'edificio ha una funzione di ristorazione.
