Fort in de Botshol ligt in een rijk natuurgebied van Natuurmonumenten.
Historie
Fort in de Botshol is het enige fort van de Stelling waarvan het verdedigbare aardwerk uit 1895 behouden is gebleven. De slappe veengrond rond Amsterdam maakte het nodig de bodem eerst met grote hoeveelheden zand te verstevigen. Uniek is ook de achter de fortwachterswoning gelegen brug waarvan het middenstuk in tijden van gevaar kon worden verwijderd.
Fort in de Botshol diende ter verdediging van het acces gevormd door de zuidkade van de Botshol en de droogblijvende stroken in de Noorder-Zuiderpolder.
