El Fuerte en Botshol se encuentra en una rica área natural de Natuurmonumenten.
Historia
El Fuerte en Botshol es el único fuerte de la Línea de Defensa cuyo terraplén defensivo ha permanecido desde 1895. El suelo blando de turba alrededor de Ámsterdam hizo necesario reforzar primero el terreno con grandes cantidades de arena. También es única la puente situada detrás de la vivienda del guardafuerte, cuyo tramo central podía ser retirado en tiempos de peligro.
El Fuerte en Botshol servía para la defensa del acceso formado por la ribera sur de Botshol y las franjas secas en el Noorder-Zuiderpolder.
