Het Cachot vind je op de 1ste verdieping van de VVV in Hulst, in het zogenaamde ''s Landshuis'. Dit statige pand dateert uit de 17de eeuw. Tot diep in de 18de eeuw was dit de thuisbasis van de magistraat van het Hulster Ambacht. Die bestuurde het gebied tussen de Westerschelde, het land van Saeftinghe en de grens met het Land van Waas. De magistraat mocht wetten maken, belastingen heffen en rechtspreken over de eigen onderdanen. Hier vind je dan ook nog een heuse 18de-eeuwse gevangeniscel. Ga zeker kijken: Reynaert zelf komt hier digitaal tot leven! De vos wordt gecombineerd met een tentoonstelling over historische marteltuigen.
