Tijdens een bestuursvergadering van de 'Vereniging tot Opvoeding en Verpleging van Idioten en Achtelijke Kinderen', op 16 oktober 1919, werd besloten om een kerk te bouwen. Deze moest dienst doen voor de instellingen 's Heeren Loo-Lozenoord en Groot-Emaus. De architect van deze kruiskerk is Johan Kortlang.
