Lengte wandelroute Posterholt: 10 kilometer. De route start bij Landal Landgoed Aerwinkel, Zwembadweg 2, 6061 EZ Posterholt.

Dit eeuwenoude ‘Monniken’ bos ligt in het stroomgebied van de Vlootbeek en biedt een grote diversiteit aan flora en fauna. Het Munnichsbos is vooral bekend door het groot aantal spechtensoorten en enkele bijzondere uilensoorten. Aangrenzend aan het bos ligt Kasteel Aerwinkel, in 1854 gebouwd door de Roermondse bouwmeester Dr. Pierre Cuypers. Het neogotische kasteeltje ligt omgeven door een prachtig aangelegde Engelse landschapstuin.
