Length of the hiking route Posterholt: 10 kilometers. The route starts at Landal Landgoed Aerwinkel, Zwembadweg 2, 6061 EZ Posterholt.

This ancient 'Monks' forest is located in the catchment area of the Vlootbeek and offers a great diversity of flora and fauna. The Munnichsbos is especially known for the large number of woodpecker species and some special owl species. Adjacent to the forest is Kasteel Aerwinkel, built in 1854 by the Roermond architect Dr. Pierre Cuypers. The neo-Gothic castle is surrounded by a beautifully landscaped English landscape garden.
