Gáfete is met 856 inwoners de grootste plaats in de gemeente. Tot het gemeentegebied van Gaféte behoort een van de grootste granietgroeven in Alto Alentejo. Bijzonder interessant hierbij is de massale export van Japanse grafmonumenten. Ook wordt hier de nationaal bekende en zeer populaire Maia-geitenkaas geproduceerd.
