De Universidade do Algarve is een staatsuniversiteit en hogeschool in Portugal met ongeveer 10.000 studenten en gevestigd in de stad Faro. De universiteit werd eind jaren 70 door de staat opgericht. Halverwege de jaren 80 werd het Polytechnisch Instituut Faro in de universiteit geïntegreerd, waarbij de volledige autonomie binnen de universiteit tot op heden is behouden. De Universidade do Algarve is in zoverre verdeeld in twee intern onafhankelijke afdelingen die opleidingsroutes binnen het polytechnisch instituut en de universiteit aanbieden. De hogeschool is dus ook verdeeld in twee aparte locaties binnen Faro.
