De St. Elisabethkathedraal is een gotische kathedraal in Košice. Het is de grootste kerk van Slowakije. Het bewijs van het bestaan van Košice, daterend uit 1230, is verbonden met dat van het bestaan van de rectoraatskerk. In het proces van de transformatie van de nederzetting van een plattelandsgemeenschap naar een stad, zijn al haar periodes van succes en falen weerspiegeld in de kathedraal van St. Elisabeth.
Volgens historische gegevens werd de huidige kathedraal gebouwd op de plaats van een ouder gebouw dat ook aan St. Elisabeth was gewijd. Het werd vermeld in het document van paus Martin V uit het jaar 1283 en in de brief van 1290, waarin werd gesteld dat bisschop Andrew II van Eger de parochie van Košice vrijstelde van de jurisdictie van de deken.
