Wat Jong Soong werd in 1838 gebouwd door de Shan. De tempel raakte beschadigd toen er een grote brand woedde in Mylonggee (grote mineraal) en later Mueang Youm Luang werd genoemd, gevolgd door Mae Sariang. Donaties werden verzameld en er werd een nieuwe tempel gebouwd onder Phra Sengkum. De tempel werd in 1896 voltooid en kreeg de naam Wat Jong Soong. De naam werd in de periode van PM Phibunsongkhram veranderd in Wat Uttayarom. Er zijn 3 pagodes op het terrein. De pagode in het westen werd gebouwd in het vroege bewind van koning Rama VI. De periode van constructie van de middelste pagode is niet bekend, maar men gelooft dat er een relikwie van de Boeddha in zit. De pagode in het oosten is in Birmese stijl en heeft zeven torens.
