The province of South Holland has used the area as a testing ground for nature management. Marshes and ponds have been created, forest grazing has been applied, and natural filters have been installed, improving water quality. A part of the Loetbos has been designated as a quiet area. This allows plants and animals to further develop. Many different animals and (rare) plants live here. For example, the reed orchid, sundew, sorrel, and cuckoo flower can be found. In the moist area, the marsh spirea, hop, yellow flag, and valerian also occur. The birds have also made their way here. The blackcap, garden warbler, and great spotted woodpecker feel at home here. The Loetbos is managed by Groenalliantie Midden-Holland.
