The Grand Ballon is the highest mountain (1424 m) in the French Vosges region.
The mountain is located in the southern part of the ridge. The summit is just above the tree line. Beautiful walks can be made in the surroundings of the Grand Ballon. From the summit, there is a lovely view of the surroundings of the Grand Ballon in the Vosges. Much further south, there is a view of the Alps. Among other things, Mont Blanc is easy to see.
The feature of the Grand Ballon is a radar at the summit of the peak.
The Grand Ballon is one of the peaks on which the Route des Crêtes leads, connecting all the heights of the Vosges massif in a north-south direction. The road reaches 1325 m just below the summit above a pass. There is a lot of cycling on this road, but many tourists also come to the Grand Ballon by road.
