House Dahl is a former manor that dates back to the 12th century and first appears as House Dale in 1184. In 1273, it was referred to as House Daele. In the meantime, the house was also called a castle, as indicated by a document from 1184 when the Archbishop of Cologne acquired the castle.
The knight's seat was in the hands of the von Dahl family until the 15th century, then it came into the possession of the von Kalle family, and subsequently the families von Diepfhaus and von Degingk held the estate among themselves, with the Gerstein family finally taking possession in 1855. House Dahl was a parliamentary knight's seat at that time.
