The street name "Chemin de la Sablière" refers to the activity of sand extraction in this area. The ridge to the east of this road, where the Forest of Houssière also extends, is made up of sand deposits from a shallow sea of the Tertaire. Not really usable as agricultural land. It is used as forestry land.
