Always thought the largest forests were in the Veluwe? Not true, here in the Flevopolder near Zeewolde is Het Horsterwold the largest deciduous forest in the Netherlands. It was planted in clay soil and you can especially feel that on wet days. Make sure to wear good footwear! And take your camera with you, we saw deer in various places. The forest also borders the Nuldernauw (the water between the polder and the Veluwe). The idea is to create small islands in the water that will function as 'stepping stones' in the ecological connection between Veluwe and Oostvaarders Plassen.
