La plaza André-Maginot, arbolada y concebida para los peatones, está situada en el corazón de la Ville-neuve, entre la estación y la calle Saint-Jean, y pertenece administrativamente al distrito Charles III - Centre Ville.
Lleva el nombre de André Maginot (1877-1932), político francés responsable de la creación de la Línea Maginot.
La plaza se llamaba antes "Place Saint-Jean", y tenía una puerta que fue destruida en 1874, la Porte Saint-Jean1.
A continuación, se construyeron nuevos edificios, algunos de los cuales son buenos ejemplos del arte de 1900 en Nancy. Fue nombrado en 1940.
