Le Palazzo Vecchio a été utilisé pour une célèbre scène du film Hannibal. Hannibal est un film thriller criminel américain de 2001 réalisé par Ridley Scott, adapté du roman du même nom de Thomas Harris. C'est la suite du film Lauréat d'un Oscar en 1991 Le Silence des Agneaux dans lequel Anthony Hopkins reprend son rôle de l'iconique tueur en série, Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal Lecter attire le chef inspecteur Rinaldo Pazzi dans une pièce isolée du Palazzo Vecchio, l'attache, puis l'éviscère et le pend à la fenêtre du Palazzo Vecchio.
