L'attuale sito era originariamente il sito di una chiesa romanica, distrutta durante conflitti religiosi nel quarto quarto del XVI secolo. Fu successivamente restaurata, ma demolita tra il 1840 e il 1844. L'attuale chiesa fu consacrata nel 1845 .
La chiesa è costruita in stile neoclassico, con muri in mattoni e arenaria per il basamento e le pietre angolari. L'edificio ha una torre occidentale quadrata, incassata , con fori acustici ad arco a tutto sesto sotto una guglia ristretta.
La chiesa ospita un fonte battesimale in pietra blu del XVII secolo. Al XVIII secolo risalgono alcuni dipinti di scuola fiamminga, gli altari laterali in legno marmorizzato e il pulpito. Due tramezzi del XVIII secolo provengono dagli ex stalli del coro.
Nella chiesa si trova un organo del 1856, probabilmente opera di Bernhard Dreymann (Magonza).
