Het dorp Surbourg staat bekend als de derde halte op de Elzasser Romaanse Route. De voormalige kapittelkerk Saint-Arbogast dateert uit de 1e helft van de 11e eeuw (vroeg Elzasser Romaans). Ze werd gebouwd op de plaats van de oudste abdij van de Elzas.
Surbourg was vanaf 1550 de thuisbasis van een grote Joodse gemeenschap, maar deze is nu verdwenen. Hoewel de synagoge werd vernietigd, is er nog steeds een spoor van hun bestaan te zien op een huis uit 1724 in 4 rue du Général-Leclerc. Er zijn Hebreeuwse inscripties te zien.
Om het dorp te bereiken, kun je de Strasbourg ? Haguenau naar Wissembourg en uitstappen bij station Hoelschloch-Surbourg.
