Dit intramontane bekken op een hoogte van 900-950 m is een merkwaardig landschap in het berggebied van Lefkas. Het wordt ook het plateau van Englouvi genoemd. Het vormt tevens de bergpas tussen oost en west. Maar in tegenstelling tot vele bergpassen die je van klimmen naar dalen brengt, blijf je hier voor enkele kilometers op ongeveer dezelfde hoogte. De bodems zijn dik en opgebouwd uit vruchtbare rode klei afkomstig van het afbraakmateriaal van de omliggende kalskstenen. Die gronden op grote hoogte worden dan ook intenseif gebruikt voor de landbouw. Traditioneel werd hier graan geteeld. Dit heeft ook een link met het unieke dorsvloercomplex aan Agios Donatos.
